President Elect Trump has made it very clear that he plans to repeal and replace the ACA. His election combined with Republican majorities in both the Senate and House mean that something new will be in place. It appears that the guarantee of coverage for all, including those with pre-existing conditions and, allowing dependents to stay on their parents plan until age 26 will stay. Removal of some of the individual and employer mandates will most likely be included in any legislation. The challenge will be fixing the “affordable” part of the bill. Additionally, we expect that there will be new benefit limits that will permit higher deductibles and H.S.A. options.
There will be much discussion and legislative battles during 2017 with little if any real changes until 2018. Stay tuned!
